Our Technology
The law, accessible to all
When you're facing a citation, "close enough" isn't good enough. Auro is built to retrieve the actual law that applies to your situation — from real, current statutes — and explain it in plain language, with citations grounded in the statutes themselves.
Grounded
not guessed
Auro's legal citations come from real statutes in our ingested corpus — not recalled from an AI's memory.
Current
not cached
That corpus is re-ingested from the source on a regular schedule — so it isn't frozen at a model's training cutoff.
Cited
not claimed
Citations name a real statute — and when one resolves to the corpus, you can open it and read the source.
The Engine
Every part built for one job.
Most AI tools were built for everything — and so they're not really built for anything in particular. Auro is different. Every part of how it works was designed for one job: helping people understand the law that actually applies to them, accurately.
01 / Grounded
The law comes from the corpus, not the model.
Before Auro answers, it retrieves the relevant law from a corpus of real, ingested state statutes. The AI's job is to read and explain what was retrieved — it is not allowed to recall statutes or case names from its own training. That distinction matters: the law you get comes from a source we control and can verify, not from whatever a model happened to memorize. It also means that as the underlying AI improves, your answers get clearer — they never quietly shift to a different, older version of the law.
If Auro quotes a statute, the words are the statute's. If it can't find support for a point in the retrieved law, it leaves the point out rather than fill the gap.
02 / Current
Laws change. Auro's corpus is re-ingested.
Statutes get amended, renumbered, and repealed. An AI model's training data is frozen at the moment it was built — so a model on its own slowly drifts out of date. Auro's corpus is re-ingested instead: we pull the source statutes on a regular schedule and review the changes we detect, so the law Auro retrieves is refreshed from the source rather than frozen at a model's training cutoff. Freshness is a function of when we last ingested — not of when some model was trained.
03 / Context
The law where you are.
What's true in California isn't true in Texas, and what's true in Texas isn't true in Florida. A generic answer that's "correct somewhere" helps no one. Auro's guidance is built per state. Today that means California, Texas, and Florida, for traffic and parking citations — the states and violation types we've fully ingested. The same architecture extends to each new state as its law is added.
04 / Safeguards
Guardrails you never see.
Accuracy isn't only about retrieval — it's about catching the failure modes. Before any answer reaches you, Auro strips out legal references that aren't backed by the retrieved corpus. When it drafts a document, a separate review step checks that the draft's factual claims match the facts you actually provided. And when Auro can't confirm you're eligible for a particular path — for example, a defense only a vehicle's registered owner can raise — it stops and tells you, rather than guess.
05 / Transparency
Show the work.
You shouldn't have to take Auro's word for it. When Auro cites a statute from the retrieved corpus, that citation is clickable — open it for the verbatim statute text and an official-source link, when those are available. Read it yourself. Bring it to an attorney. Use it to push back if something doesn't add up.
06 / Privacy
Your information stays yours.
Legal questions are personal. Your conversations and case details are encrypted in transit and at rest, and they are never used to train AI models. We don't sell your data. You should be able to ask hard questions without wondering where your answers end up — our Privacy Policy spells out exactly how we handle it.
Why it matters
Innovation is the means. Trust, reliability, and impact are the ends.
The people who use Auro are facing something they didn't expect and didn't choose. They deserve a tool that gets it right.
i.
Right beats fast.
A quick answer that's wrong is worse than no answer at all. We optimize for accuracy first, every time.
ii.
Clarity beats cleverness.
Sounding sophisticated is easy. Being understood is hard. We choose the harder one, because it's the one that helps.
iii.
Personal beats abstract.
Behind every question is a real person in a real moment. The answer has to fit their situation — not a national average.
